Garden Update: March 1 2013

The lettuce, arugula, and mixed greens and cilantro are really the only thing that's edible in the garden right now. I do have celery, kohl rabi and some radishes that are looking pretty good. I have been planting seeds and transplants of tomatoes, strawberries, and peppers for the past few weeks trying to stagger the plantings to lengthen the harvest. Yesterday I prepared another bed against the east facing backyard wall and made new trellises out of goodwill items and cheap wood. I planted squash, zucchini, cucumbers, radishes, chives, sunflowers and annuals in this bed. Only time will tell if it is a success.
New bed: Back wall planted 2-28-13. Used my own compost for this bed.

Re-purposed trellis. Artichoke was a transplant from another part of the yard.

Raised bed with tomatoes, kohl rabi, lettuce, greens.

Raised bed with peppers, cilantro, purple cabbage, spinach, greens, chives, green beens.

Chicken coop garden: Arugula, greens, young celery.

Chicken coop garden. I made the trellises on the left wall this week. Planted green beans under. Crossing my fingers.

The girls came to say hi.
